Everything You Need to Know About the EB-1 Visa

The EB-1 Visa, also known as the Employment-Based First Preference Visa, is designed for individuals who demonstrate extraordinary ability in their field, outstanding professors and researchers, or multinational executives and managers. This visa allows eligible individuals to obtain permanent residency in the United States, offering a streamlined path to a green card for those who qualify under its stringent criteria.


Who Qualifies for an EB-1 Visa?

The EB-1 Visa is divided into three subcategories:


  1. EB-1A: Extraordinary Ability

  • Individuals with extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics.

  • Evidence of sustained national or international acclaim.

  • No offer of employment required, but evidence of continuing work in the area of expertise is necessary.

  1. EB-1B: Outstanding Professors and Researchers

  • Recognized internationally for outstanding achievements in a particular academic field.

  • At least three years of experience in teaching or research.

  • A job offer from a U.S. employer is required.

  1. EB-1C: Multinational Executives and Managers

  • Employed for at least one of the past three years by a firm or corporation.

  • Seeking to enter the U.S. to continue service with the same employer, or a subsidiary or affiliate.

  • Must be employed in a managerial or executive capacity.
